We went to check out what’s going on in Oslo today, as the EU receives the prize for keeping Europe at peace for the past 60 years. A reminder that we must not take peace in Europe for granted.

In connection with the Nobel Peace Prize, Heads of State from all over Europe have arrived in Oslo, including French President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Accepting the award on behalf of the European Union is President of the European Council, Herman von Rompuy, President of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso and President of the European Parliament, Martin Schultz.

The Nobel Prize Ceremony takes place in the Oslo City Hall, just a few meters away from our office here in Rådhusgaten. Needless to say, it is not often we are met by police escorts on our way to work. Tomorrow night, the traditional Nobel Peace Prize Concert will be held in Oslo Spektrum, hosted by Sarah Jessica Parker and Gerard Butler. Some of the artists performing are Kylie Minogue, Ne-Yo, Milow, Karpe Diem, Seal, Laleh, Jennifer Hudson, OqueStrada, Susanne Sundfør, Il Volo and Fanfare Ciocarila.

We congratulate the winners of the Nobel Peace Prize 2012!
