Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll, a 22-year-old from Fana in Bergen, goes by the stage name Kygo, and has now been played about 100 million times online. He began playing the piano when he was six, and started mixing electronic three years ago, inspired by Swedish Tim Bergling, aka Avichii.

At home in his room, he does everything with a few computers and a keyboard, with equipment costing less than 3000 USD.

He became known to the public through the website Soundcloud, where he publishes his remixes and his own music. He has played for full-set club scenes, remixed Ellie Goulding and was headhunted by Coldplay to remix their song Midnight. His biggest hit so far is a remix of I See Fire, by Ed Sheeran. This remix has over 40 million clicks. In the summer of 2014 Gørvell-Dahll performed at 22 venues in the United States and Canada.

So far Gørvell-Dahl has primarily concentrated on remixing other people’s music, but now he is also starting to create his own songs, and has signed a record deal with Sony Music.
