Norwegians Worldwide’s Patron, His Majesty King Harald of Norway, is 80 years old today, February 21.
Barely two hours after he had lost his father, Harald impressed the people of Norway by delivering his first speech to the people – as King. Since then he has held the New Year’s speech every year, which is treasured by the people of Norway. In his latest one this January, he reflected over the fact that he is turning 80, and how surreal that feels. The King has often got praise for his speeches. This summer during the garden party in the royal park, he held an including speech that impressed many and got attention all over the world. See the speech here.
In 2016, the royal couple celebrated 25 years on the throne, with happenings all over Norway. In 2017 both our King and Queen is 80 years old. They show no signs of aging, however, working and traveling as much as ever, they seem to truly live by the Royal motto alt for Norge (all for Norway). They are both very sporty, the King is an active sailor, while the Queen enjoys skiing and hiking.
Norwegians Worldwide wishes the King a happy birthday!
