This week, more than 30 000 football-loving children gather at Ekebergsletta in Oslo. Here, they will play more than 6 000 matches altogether. Norway Cup is the largest football tournament in the world.

Girls and boys from all over the world flock to Oslo this week, when 1 908 football teams compete at Norway Cup. The world’s largest football tournament is for children between 6 and 19 years of age, and was started in 1972.

It has grown in popularity ever since, and throughout its history 127 nations have participated in total. Teams come from all over the world, including Kenya, Nepal, Mexico, Germany and USA. North Korea is the latest newcomer this year, sending a team for the first time.

About 32 000 kids and 2 500 volunteers participate in the tournament taking place between 29 July and 5 August this year. Norway Cup is organized by Bækkelagets Sportsklub and is a football tournament full of community spirit and sportsmanship.
